Package V24-KM

Applications

Used by flooring installers and inspectors, contractors and water restoration specialists, anyone who needs to investigate moisture conditions in concrete slabs, wood floors, drywall, roofing materials and structural elements in the building envelope. With the two electrodes you can always choose the right tool for finding moisture, where it hides.

Advantages:

pin – pinless – RH: When every job is different, the Ligno-VersaTec is the most versatile meter, all-in-one. It measures moisture in a wide range of materials and in relative humidity of air (with RH BluePeg probe).

System complies to ASTM F2170 for in-situ RH concrete moisture test.

Using Electrode E12 allows accurate surface and core measurements with insulated pins to 2″ deep. Electrode E14-V is designed slim to measure hard to reach corners, under base boards, around window frames. Also used for very hard wood or bamboo 1/2″deep. Handle is extendable to reach ceilings and floors easily.

The Ligno-VersaTec is the most advanced moisture meter among Lignomat’s moisture meters with pin-pinless-RH measurements. Features are the wide moisture range and more than 170 correction settings for measuring domestic and tropical wood species, OSB and other panel products, bamboo, gypsum and different types of wall boards. Relative scales are included for concrete, cementitious materials, plastics, insulation… for the floor installer, inspector. Ligno-VersaTec is for all industries, where moisture measurements are an integral part of everyday decision making

The meter by itself provides for dual-depth pinless measurements. Connectors for pin electrodes and RH cables or RH adapter are installed in the top of the moisture meter.
– BNC connector for electrode cables and in-kiln, remote cables with Adapter H
– 3.5mm stereo jack to connect RH cable or RH adapter.
Two measuring plates for pinless dual-depth mode are mounted on the back of the meter.

Package includes E12 pin electrode and accessories for measuring RH/T ambient conditions and in-situ concrete moisture testing.

Pinless Measurements
The Ligno-VersaTec moisture meter by itself allows fast and easy moisture testing of flat surfaces 1/4″ and 3/4″ deep. Percent values are indicated for all wood species, OSB and other panel products, engineered floors, bamboo and drywall. Relative scales are for all other materials including concrete. If the material is not flat, or measurements should reach deeper or you need to find differences between surface and core moisture, the Electrodes E12 can be used to accomplish those tasks.

In-situ Probe Testing of Concrete
The V2-KM moisture meter package contains accessories needed for RH testing: 1 RH Bluepeg probe (option 5 or 10 RH probes), 10 sleeves with caps, 1 RH-CC cable and 1 brush (drill bit is not included).  Design of equipment and test procedure are governed by the ASTM standard F2170.  Lignomat’s RH BluePeg system complies with the latest F2170 standard.

After drilling, cleaning and setting the sleeve, the RH BluePeg probe easily drops into the sleeve. The cap fits perfectly and is as flat as can be. The cable connection is provided by a simple, fail-proof 3.5mm stereo plug. No pin alignment of the cable needs to be fitted and no set-up of the meter is necessary.  The meter switches into RH mode as soon as an RH cable is connected. Plug in and read, that’s what our customers like.

The display shows the measured value and the RH Probe number. The RH probe number is an individual number 1-999 to allow keeping track of probe location during testing, measurements and performance.

Thermo-Hygrometer

To activate the RH thermo-hygrometer mode, plug the RH Adapter into the RH BluePeg probe, next the RH Adapter can be plugged into the stereo connector at the top of the meter. Instead of using the Adapter RH, the 6 ft RH-CC cable included in the package can be used for remote measurements (any stereo cable could be used).

As soon as the connection is established, the Ligno-VersaTec moisture meter is in RH mode. When the READ button is depressed, the meter immediately indicates the relative humidity. The up or down keys allow recalling the values for ambient Temperature, Dew Point Temperature and Grains Per Pound.

Specifications RH BluePeg: +/-2% (10-90%), +/-3% below 10%, above 90%
T: +/- 0.5°F (32-120°F) , +/- 1°F (5-32°F and 120-160°F) Response time 8 sec.
Resolution for RH and T: 0.1% and 0.1°.

Depth Measurements with Electrode E12
The ability to measure a moisture gradient and to measure deeper (2″ with DB pins) is one of the main reasons for our customers to use the E12, even though the VersaTec offers a pinless mode for 1/4″ and 3/4″ deep measurements. For flooring applications, moisture problems can be avoided when the wood, wood floors, subfloors and the concrete underneath have been confirmed to be dry. Subfloors can be measured through the floor planks. For restoration applications, the electrode E12 can find moisture within the building structure, even behind wall coverings.

The Electrode E12 is designed to obtain measurements at the depth the pins are driven to, from the surface up to 2″ deep. The slide hammer helps inserting and removing pins. All E12 pins are insulated and measure only at the tip. Moisture evaluation at its best.

Measuring: As the pins are hammered into the wood, consecutive readings show if wood is dry throughout the core or if a moisture gradient exists. The thicker the wood, the more important core readings become. No other tool can achieve the same measuring accuracy at a defined depth.

When assessing water damage, the pins of the E12 can be driven to different depth levels and thus indicate how far water has been absorbed or if there is still residual moisture inside the structure after drying. Insulated pins can measure dry material behind a wet surface.

The electrode E12 comes with 1 pair each of 1″ pins and 1 pair of 1.5″. The 2″ long pins need to be ordered separately.
E12 pins are teflon coated to only measure at the tip and come in three sizes:

– DZ Pins insulated, measuring depth 1”
– DA Pins insulated, measuring depth 1.5”
– DB Pins insulated, measuring depth 2” (order separately)

Pin mode with electrode E14-V

Inspector Electrode E14-V with teflon-coated pins EG: The slim shape allows for checking around pipes, below window sills, in wall corners, places where round electrodes or built-in pins from moisture meters cannot reach. With the E14 you can truly track moisture where it hides. Adding the 7″ long EL pins lets you reach through insulation or under baseboards into structural components. Great for EIFS inspections. For depth measurements up to 2″ deep in wood and panel products, we recommend adding the slide-hammer electrode E12 for easy setting and removing pins. See also package V24-KM with electrodes E12 and E14-V.

The knob at the end of the handle can be removed and replaced by a paint brush handle or broom stick. Using the paint brush handle allows to extend the reach. You can stay a distance from mold infested areas and still be able to get reliable measurements. Extending the handle with a broom stick makes measuring carpets and carpet padding easy without crouching down. Ceilings can be checked for moisture leakage without a ladder.

Pins measure only at the tip. EG and EL pins are teflon coated up to the electrode handle. Moisture from a wet surface is never picked up, even if the pins are pushed all the way into the material.

Another benefit of using the external electrode E14-V is that you can keep the meter in your hand and the display is always close-by. Measuring ceilings, walls or floors with the meter itself can make it impossible to see the display.

In addition, the electrode and pins are built tough, which allows the user to hammer pins into wood and other hard materials, without damage to the probe or the pins. (Strand bamboo, hard hardwood and even cementitious materials)

Options:

  • Add concrete electrode E16 to obtain instant concrete measurements up to 7″.

Electrode E16 is added for instant measurements in hard building materials such as concrete, brick, stone, tile. Predrilling holes may be required. Advantage is that the result of the measurement is instantly available. For measurements at different depth levels, comparing values indicates if a moisture gradient exists. For measurements in different locations, areas of high and low moisture distribution can be determined. With EL pins up to 7″ deep.
